The Story Behind Ven Camilo
Ven Camilo,
A quiet nod to my own name. I took Kevin, dropped the “Ke,” swapped the “i” for an “e,” and suddenly I had Ven — a name that’s still mine, just reimagined. It fit perfectly, not just phonetically, but emotionally, with everything else the name stands for.
The name didn’t just come out of nowhere. It’s stitched together from years of emotional blueprinting.
First, the Ven — pronounced like “Ben,” but it’s also the Spanish word for “come.” To me, it’s an invitation. Come as you are. Come see the world through my eyes. It also nods to one of my favorite video game series of all time: Kingdom Hearts, there’s a character named Ventus, or “Ven” for short. His other half is Roxas — and funny enough, I named my Mini Aussie Shepard @Roxastheminiaussie.
Having Ven in my business name keeps a little tribute to both my dog and that story. Roxas, both the character and my pup, represent the parts of myself I’ve worked to understand — the quiet, emotional, sometimes fractured parts. Roxas was a symbol of duality, someone who wasn’t sure where he belonged but still chose to care deeply. That mirrored how I felt for most of my life. Naming my dog Roxas was a way to honor that story, and keeping Ven in my brand was my way of saying — I see you, I’m still you, and I’ve grown because of you.
The other half is Camilo — my middle name. The one my mother always used when she was being tender or serious. It reminds me of tradition. Of being Colombian. Of softness and heritage. It’s a name that has followed me into every room I’ve entered.
And for the nerds who caught it — yes, Ven Camilo has the same number of syllables as Ben Kenobi. That wasn’t by accident. Obi-Wan was always the quiet protector — the one who carried so much pain and purpose without demanding the spotlight. He chose mentorship, presence, and restraint over glory. I saw myself in that. In the way he held space for others while learning to grieve, grow, and guide. That energy? That’s what I hope lives in my work.
Intentional. Because if there’s anyone who’s taught me about patience, sacrifice, and quiet strength, it’s Obi-Wan.
So that’s how it came together.
Ven Camilo = Come, Camilo.
A call inward. A call forward.
It’s my bridge between culture and creation, between childhood and business, between fantasy and the world I’m building in real time. I created this name to carry the pieces of me I once kept quiet.
And now, I use it to speak.
